From 5 to 14 May 2026, 7 young people representing EN.O Greece travelled to Agrigento, Sicily, to participate in the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “United in Motion”, hosted by EUROMED Italia.

The project brought together young people from Greece, Italy, Romania, Hungary, Spain, Croatia and Poland and at its was a simple idea: dance can be much more than movement. It can become a common language.

Through dance, creative movement and non-formal education, the Youth Exchange created a space where young people from different backgrounds could communicate beyond words, express themselves, learn from one another and build meaningful connections. The project focused particularly on inclusion, diversity, respect, empathy, teamwork and intercultural understanding.

Throughout the exchange, participants took part in dance workshops, creative and collaborative activities, intercultural learning experiences and reflection activities.

The aim was not simply to learn how to dance. Participants were encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, explore different forms of expression and discover how movement can support communication and cooperation between people with different experiences and cultural backgrounds.

In this way, the activities contributed to the wider objectives of the project: developing self-confidence, creativity and personal expression; strengthening communication, teamwork and collaboration skills; promoting intercultural dialogue; and raising awareness of inclusion, diversity and equal opportunities.

For some members of the Greek group, this was also their first experience of an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange, making the opportunity to participate in an international learning environment particularly meaningful.

Among the highlights of the experience was the process of creating a collective choreography.

Young people with different personalities, cultural backgrounds and experiences worked together through movement, gradually transforming their individual contributions into something they could perform as a group. The process culminated in a final dance recording, capturing one of the most memorable results of their days of learning and creating together.

But the exploration of dance did not remain within the international group.

Participants also went out into Agrigento and interacted with local people, asking them a seemingly simple question:

“What is dance for you?”

Through these encounters, participants had the opportunity to connect the project with the local community and discover the different meanings that people associate with dance and movement.

Together, these two experiences captured much of what United in Motion was about: expression, participation, communication and human connection.

What stands out across these reflections is not only how much participants enjoyed the experience, but what they took away from it: leaving their comfort zones, developing social and creative skills, discovering other cultures, finding new ways of expressing themselves and building relationships with people they had only just met.

These experiences reflect the broader purpose of “United in Motion”: creating a safe and supportive environment in which young people could express themselves freely, develop their confidence, learn from one another and experience how creativity and movement can contribute to more inclusive communities.

For EN.O Greece, participation in international youth mobility is not only about travelling or taking part in an activity abroad. It is about creating opportunities for young people to learn through experience, encounter different realities, challenge themselves, develop new competences and bring their learning and experiences back to their communities.

Seven young people travelled from Greece to Sicily.

They arrived with different personalities, expectations and experiences. They met young people from six other countries, shared cultures and ideas, learned and created together — and discovered that sometimes you don’t need to speak the same language to find a way to communicate.

That is what being United in Motion was all about. 💃🌍❤️
