“Water is Life, Treat It Right!”
From 14–21 November 2024, EN.O Greece participated in the Erasmus+ youth exchange “Water is Life, Treat It Right!”, held in Istanbul, Türkiye. This international project brought together motivated young people from various European countries to raise awareness about global water scarcity and promote responsible and sustainable water use.
As our planet faces increasing pressure from climate change, population growth, and unsustainable consumption, the need to educate and empower young people on environmental issues is more urgent than ever. Istanbul itself is one of the 11 major cities already experiencing severe water shortages, making it a powerful setting for this initiative.
Project Objectives The project was designed to address multiple dimensions of environmental education, focusing on:
Promoting water conservation and responsible consumption in daily life
Exploring sustainable practices and eco-friendly materials
Encouraging youth participation in environmental movements
Developing knowledge of environmental policies and sustainability concepts
Supporting international collaboration and visibility of youth organizations
Strengthening key competences through non-formal education methods
Promoting the Erasmus+ programme and increasing youth engagement in exchanges
EN.O Greece’s Role Our organization, EN.O Greece, was proud to support and accompany a team of passionate young participants who actively engaged in workshops, debates, and collaborative activities. Together with peers from across Europe, they shared ideas, learned from each other’s experiences, and developed practical skills they can now apply in their own communities.
We believe that exchanges like this are vital in equipping young people with the tools they need to become environmentally conscious changemakers. It was not only an opportunity to learn about water-related issues but also to foster intercultural understanding and cooperation through Erasmus+.
Project Outcome: Booklet on Water Conservation At the conclusion of the exchange, participants collaborated on creating a digital booklet, which summarizes the project’s activities, key messages, and practical tips for water conservation. This resource is a reflection of the collective learning and commitment of everyone involved.
